Essential Question:

How can we connect our students to the "big picture" of what it means to be Jewish?

Barriers and Bridges Protocol

- with thanks to Linda Nitsche

Materials:

two lunch size paper bags

Markers

On the outside of one bag, write down a word or phrase related to a barrier to connecting classroom learning to the wider world. On the other side of the bag, write down a word or phrase related to bridges for connecting students. The second bag is opened and placed inside the bag with the responses to create a brick.

Take your "brick" and build a “wall” out of the bricks with barriers all on one side of the wall and bridges on the other side.
Briefly share the identified barriers and bridges.
